Elegant gift book, celebrating the themes of the winter season through art

A selection of the most beautiful, emotive, and amusing expressions of the winter season drawn from the Tate's collection. Divided into key themes--seasonal landscapes, religious imagery, and "celebration and festivity"--each of the works of art included has been individually selected for the ways in which the artist has sought to capture this special time of year. Works of art include paintings, drawings, sculptures, illustrations, and installations. They are punctuated by brief captions adding background detail about the art, artists, and their subjects. These works of art are sometimes traditional, sometimes contemporary, and often revealing. Seen together, these beautiful images create an enlightening journey through the visual portrayal of winter and the holiday season in Western art.
