When I first came to see Amma in June 1979, I was reborn as a child. I was 22 years old. Since then, I have been holding onto the hem of Amma's sari. That continues to this day. Forty years have passed, but before Amma I am still a child. That's how I like it. If one is a child, one can learn a great deal. It's also easy for a mother to teach a child. The portals of knowledge become closed to us the moment we think, "I am grownup and have become big." Alternatively, it is easiest to grow if our heart becomes expansive and our ego shrinks.
