In February 2019, he received the European Crime Fiction Star Award jointly with Swedish crime novelist Arne Dahl. He has been shortlisted for the CWA Gold Dagger and Theakston's Crime Novel of the Year, and twice shortlisted for the European Star Crime Fiction Award. Beckett is married and lives in Sheffield, England.
