About the Author:

I started out working at a mid-sized scrap yard with no knowledge of metal identification, sorting, or cleaning. From 2008-2013, I worked my way up to office operations. Besides doing day to day office work, I was the weighmaster of the ferrous and nonferrous scales. I created boards and other guides to identify and grade materials for training purposes at the main and sister yard. I dealt with various buyers in regards to changes in grading procedures and pricing issues. I continue to teach others the benefits and ease of recycling metal. Metal recycling is a practice in which I still participate. I was raised to make good use of the resources I have at hand. So reusing, upcycling, or recycling just makes sense. I believe it is our responsibility to take care of the world we have to leave it where it is still useful to our future generations.
